I am the line

I went to Bikram Yoga here in Dallas yesterday - Christmas Eve.
It was the best thing I could have done for myself yesterday. Even with a $40 commitment. (Studios should have a special deal for traveling yogis).
Bikram Yoga Dallas is having a sale on Yoga Wear- Merry Christmas to me!
Again- next to a first-timer.
I am a first timer magnet!

Favorite Pose: Cobra
Least Favorite: Standing Bow - I couldn't concentrate.

Yoga is NOT my religion.
Yoga DOES enable me to be a light.
I am a flame that radiates warmth and light in my good times.
I burn you and myself in my bad times.

I realize today that I have become good at making myself happy, but I have neglected something very important.
That is understanding that others aren't bad or wrong if they don't contribute to MY definition of well-being.

The hard-knocks out there might say that you should only surround yourself with those you choose to help you on your life path. My expectations of what others do is too high, I need not be a hard-knock.

What are expectations anyways? In my own words I define them as 'how you think something should be'.

Are you happy? Generally speaking? Do you let others define your happiness or do you do that for yourself? What happens when you let others in and they try to make you happy out of their goodness and good intentions, and you still feel let down?

Bikram says the famous and somewhat infamous quote about letting others steal your peace. That is is YOU who failed:

"Nothing can steal happiness, peace away from you: if anyone does make you angry, you are the loser; if someone can allow you to lose peace, you are the loser" - Bikram Choudhury

I agree. To take charge of these emotions and feelings is something that is complicated but necessary.
It is paramount to be conscious. In my eyes, there is no other way to live.

Sometimes surrounded by so many people, I feel so alone. There is a fine line that is so complicatedly (is that a word?) drawn between what needs to be said, what shouldn't be said, and what goes without saying. I am the line at this point of the journey.
