Lazy

I give myself a sticker every-time I go to yoga. I don't care if it is juvenile... as the saying goes, 'it's the small things'. Well, it is partly that I like sticky things and partly that I have a bunch of stickers lying around that I don't want to throw away, but want to get rid of.

Looking back at my calendar, aside from my 30 day challenge.. I go to Bikram 3 times a week, sometimes more, rarely less. This is more than most people but so much less than the dedicated Bikram Yogi.. I think? How often do you go to class?

I AM lazy. I often use my hot yoga addiction to not climb the stairs, not try other forms of exercise, and my biggest vice... eat as much pizza (with preservative-free ranch) as I want. I work out in a 100+ degree room for 90 minutes three times a week (sometimes more) so I don't have to exert myself on any other occasion. This is my reasoning. Sure, I guess there is nothing 'wrong' with it, but it is limiting. I am limiting my potential. I need to work on this.

This post is not about belittling the enormous effort and amazing transformation I have experienced in making this yoga a part of my life. This post is about putting my finger on a problem and taking the next step.

Good question, Kirsten... I practice three times a week, too, same as you. Sometimes four, usually three :-) It seems to be enough for me at this stage of my life. I don't live to do yoga; I do yoga to live.

I try to go at least 3x a week as well. Lately, I've been slacking due to sickness and life in general. I've started keeping track of how many times I go in one month and it makes me feel better if I make at least 10-12 classes. I don't beat myself up as much then for missing more in one particular week. I WISH I could go more often but it's so hard..........

I totally experience laziness too. And it's hard not to think, "I did my yoga today, I can give myself a break!" But sometimes we forget the discipline we learn on the mat. We forget to carry it outside the room.

You should be proud of your willingness to talk about this openly, and to face it honestly. Thanks for the inspiration -- I'm encouraged to do the same after reading! :)
